Detectives are viewing CCTV from the nightclub and have appealed for anyone in the area to get in touch. Neighborhood officers will patrol the area for the next few days to provide reassurance, police said.
In a post on social media, Crane said: “We are all deeply shocked and saddened that a man lost his life last night as our Boxing Day event closed.
“We are working closely with West Midlands Police as they investigate this crime. We would encourage anyone who witnessed this incident or has information to share that could help West Midlands Police to contact them directly.”
The club has canceled its New Year’s Eve event following the attack. The scene remains closed while evidence is gathered, police said.
A Crane spokesman said: “We have a comprehensive search policy for all customers entering and leaving the site. This includes the deployment of metal detectors, strip searches, pocket checks, wallet inspections, bag searches and procedures of age verification Searches are conducted in accordance with SIA guidelines and best practices.
“The site is patrolled by SIA security personnel who responded to the incident as it unfolded overnight. The relevant CCTV footage is with West Midlands Police and we are working closely with any requests to assist – them with their queries.
“On Christmas Day, we had a paramedic-led team, as per our site policy, who quickly arrived at the scene to administer first aid to the victim until the ambulance service arrived.
“We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends and anyone else affected by this tragedy. We will continue to work closely with West Midlands Police.”
Bromsgrove Sporting Football Club’s website on Tuesday night paid tribute saying: “We are all deeply saddened to learn of the death of Cody Fisher. Cody was a friend to many at the club and we send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”
