The first post-launch patch for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has arrived alongside Nintendo’s promise to take the games’ tech issues seriously.
The patch notes posted on Nintendo’s website for version 1.1.0 of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet say that broken music during Elite Four and Top Champion battles have been fixed, along with a vague confirmation that “they have fixed other selected bugs.” The patch, available now, also kicks off Season 1 of Ranked Battles.
Nintendo also promised to improve the performance of the first open-world Pokémon games and apologized for the various issues present in the release versions.
“We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect game performance,” Nintendo said. “Our goal is always to provide players with a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for any inconvenience. We take player feedback seriously and are working to improve the games.”
However, he didn’t say when those updates would arrive, but this first patch was released just under two weeks after the game’s release, and exactly three weeks after he released his “day one patch” for those with early copies. If Nintendo follows a similar trend, it could be mid to late December before we see another Pokemon Scarlet and Violet update.
Issues encountered so far include a broken PvE experience at the end of the game, a rigged battle stage, duplication errors, a strange method for running at double speed, and more.
Poor performance was also a big factor in our 6/10 review, as IGN said: “Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s open-world gameplay is a bright direction for the future of the franchise, but this promising change is feels sabotaged by the many ways in which Scarlet and Violet feel deeply unfinished.”
