Police hunt for killer after 41-year-old man stabbed to death in Sydney’s north

Detectives on the NSW Central Coast north of Sydney are on the hunt for a killer who stabbed a man to death meters from his home.

With several witnesses, police know who they are looking for after the 41-year-old collapsed on the road outside his home in Railway Street, Woy Woy.

Locals ran to help and found he had been stabbed several times.

Police officers performed CPR but he could not be saved.

Witnesses say they saw him fighting with another man who was carrying a machete

Detectives went door to door through a complex of units looking for clues.

Neighbors knew the victim simply as “Nathan.”

One described him as “a champ”, another said he was “the nicest guy in the world”.

Friend Ann Gannon said a neighbor told her what happened.

“My neighbor came down and said Nathan was dead. I said how? How?

Officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but the man died at the scene. (new)

“He was always there to help. That’s why it hurts me to think he’s gone.”

Police have set up a Strike Force made up of local detectives, assisted by the State Crime Squad’s Homicide Squad, to investigate the death.
