A radio host has died on air while presenting his breakfast show, his station has said.
Tim Gough, 55, was an hour into the show when the music stopped midway through Madness’ song Gray Day, The Sun reported.
The tune resumed a few minutes later but the DJ did not return.
GenX Radio Suffolk in the UK later confirmed that he had died.
A spokesman said: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to inform you that our dear friend and breakfast host Tim Gough passed away this morning while presenting his show.
“Our love to his family, son, sister, brother and mother.
“Tim was doing what he loved.”
Local media suggest he died at 7.50am on Monday of a suspected heart attack at his home.
He has since been described as a “warm, caring and funny man” who was “much loved” by those who knew him.
GenX Radio Suffolk managing director James Hazell said Tim was “a very experienced and very talented broadcaster with an army of fans for his daily show”.
He added: “To know Tim personally, as I did very closely for more than 30 years, was to know a warm, caring and funny guy who I and my family love very much.
“We are devastated by the news.”
Fellow presenter Lottie Pook said: “I’m devastated. Tim taught me radio and I’m going to miss him so much.”
And listener David K Game added: “Local radio legend. Deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
“When the auto backup started, I’d like to think it would have been funny for him to play ‘Play that funky music ’til you die’ twice in the hour after he died.
“RIP Tim – you will be sorely missed by all your listeners.”
