It’s a big week for Samsung fans with the Korean tech giant set to launch a number of shiny new devices in the coming days. All will be revealed on Wednesday, August 10 at one of the firm’s famous Unpacked events, and it could be bad news if you’ve invested in a foldable device. That’s because it seems almost certain that its range of futuristic flexible displays is set for a massive overhaul.
All the details are being kept under wraps for now, but Samsung is rumored to be updating its entire line of Galaxy Flip and Galaxy Fold smartphones at the August unveiling.
If you’re not up to date with these phones, the Galaxy Fold opens like a book to reveal a tablet-style display, while the Flip features a more standard smartphone display that folds in half to the easiest to carry in your pocket.
To add fuel to the fire about the upcoming releases, an invitation released by Samsung also shows its famous Flip device being opened to reveal the Unboxed date.
Full details will be revealed later this week, but speculation is already rife that these flip phones will have an improved design, more powerful processors, better cameras, and longer battery life.
We’ll bring you all the details on these live updates starting at Wednesday’s launch event. Any update is sure to increase the popularity of these devices.
Samsung recently revealed that the foldable market is booming with the film seeing a 300 percent increase in sales in the past year alone.
This has meant that Samsung has been able to shift more than 10 million foldables with this number set to grow even further.
In fact, Samsung now predicts that this rapid growth will continue and make a big impact on the global smartphone market for years to come.
Speaking about the rise of foldables, Samsung President and Head of MX Business Dr. TM Roh said, “We saw an opportunity not only to design a new shape, but also to create new experiences that have never been before possible with a smartphone.
“Overcoming many technological hurdles, we successfully introduced the first foldable Galaxy smartphone in 2019 and have since changed the future of our industry.”
Watch this space if you fancy a new Galaxy Flip or Fold in your pocket. The Unpacked event starts at 3pm this Wednesday, August 10.
