Groups C and D kick off the four-match opening day of the 2022 World Cup on Tuesday. Argentina were heavy favorites to win the World Cup, but Saudi Arabia were stunned in their opening match as Saleh Al Shehri and Salem Al Dawsari found the net in a 2-1 win.
Mexico vs. Poland
11 a.m. ET Tuesday, Fox
This is an incredibly even game. And we wonder if not losing will be more important for both teams than risking to win. It’s hard to see the loser of this game advancing to the knockout round, so we’ll say both teams play conservatively and it ends in a tie.
France v Australia
2 pm ET Tuesday, Fox
France, at least, don’t have to start the World Cup against Denmark, as they play a very different line-up to the team that won the World Cup in 2018. As you probably already know, Karim Benzema, Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante are all out. through injuries and Raphael Varane and Joules Kounde are recovering from injuries. France should win this one easily and under 2.5 goals at +105 looks our favorite game. This is a team that tends to play conservatively even with all its stars in the lineup.
