Zelensky hits back at Elon Musk’s ‘insane’ Twitter poll on Russia Ukraine peace

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Elon Musk’s “Insane” Twitter poll on Russia-Ukraine peace proposals.

The Tesla titan took to Twitter and proposed a series of ideas to resolve the eight-month standoff, asking his followers to vote “yes” or “no” to his proposals, which included formally allowing Russia Crimea was annexed.

And the stunt went down badly with the country’s leader who took to Twitter with a poll of his own.

Mr Zelensky, who has become a social media star in his own right during the war, asked his 6.6 million Twitter followers to choose which Elon Musk they “liked best”.

He then gave them two options, “One who supports Ukraine” or “One who supports Russia.”

The world’s richest man has come under fire from Ukrainians after he set out concrete peace proposals to end the war.

“Redo elections in annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if this is the will of the people,” Musk wrote.

“Crimea is formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).

“Crimea’s water supply is secured. Ukraine remains neutral.”

The world’s richest person then added: “This is very likely to be the end result, just a matter of how many die before that.

“It is also worth noting that one possible, albeit unlikely, outcome of this conflict is nuclear war.”

He later added: “Russia is doing a partial mobilization. They go to all-out war mobilization if Crimea is at risk. Death on both sides will be devastating. Russia has more than 3 times the population of Ukraine, so a Ukrainian victory is unlikely in an all-out war. If you care about the people of Ukraine, seek peace.”

Mr Musk’s proposals, including the survey of annexed areas, were also criticized by some critics on Twitter.

“First, it’s crazy to poll people in an active, contested war zone, even during a ceasefire. UN observers don’t stay forever. What about voters who vote that way?” wrong” after winning a side?” tweeted Dmitry Grozoubinski, a Ukrainian-born former Australian diplomat.

And another user added: “Elon projects Russian propaganda, Ukraine pulls out heavy weapons.”

“There should be a third option – Elon Musk keeping quiet about things he knows nothing about,” another user tweeted.
