Billie Eilish says living with Tourette’s is exhausting and has been filled with people joking about it.
Billie sat down with David Letterman for his Netflix series, ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction’, and talked about the Tourette … which he rarely does.
The 20-year-old singer told Dave, “If you shoot me long enough, you’ll see a lot of tics.”
He talked about the difficulty of interacting with people who do it in the light … “It’s very strange, I haven’t talked about it at all. The most common way to react is to laugh because they think I’m trying. Be funny , they think I’m leaving [imitates tic] like a fun move. And so they say, ‘Ha,’ and I’m always incredibly offended. “
“It simply came to our notice then [looks around] ‘What?’ and then I say, “I have Tourette’s.”
Billie went on to explain that she always has tics, whether subtle like moving her ears forward and backward, clicking her jaw, or flexing certain muscles. She said: “These are things you would never notice if you were just having a conversation with me, but for me, they are very exhausting.”
Now, however, he says he has accepted it … “I have befriended him, so now I have a lot of confidence in him.”
