Kuo: iPhone 14 faces quality control issues due to cracked rear camera lens, but no disruptions expected for launch

Apple is facing quality control issues with the iPhone 14’s rear camera lens, causing some lenses to crack due to a coating, Apple analyst Ming- Chi Kuo on Twitter. The problem has caused Apple to reallocate iPhone 14 camera orders to a different supplier, helping to mitigate the impact on device shipments later this fall.

Kuo said the impact on iPhone 14 shipments will be minimal thanks to the intervention of a new supplier and the hope that it will address the issue. iPhone 14 shipments are expected to be higher than iPhone 13 shipments as Samsung is gearing up for 80 million iPhone 14 display shipments in the third quarter of this year.

The mass production of the iPhone 14 series, which will include the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max 6.7 inches, it will start in August before a release in September. The iPhone 14 is expected to be a notable upgrade on the high-end models, which rumors suggest will feature a new notch and a pill-shaped hole to replace the notch, a 48MP rear camera, a faster RAM and an always-on display.
